Do you ever wonder how others make gradual career shifts, such as working part-time or taking extended time off from work? I’m coming at you today with an interview I did recently with The Fioneers to share more about how I made gradual changes in my Human Resources career to better align with my values and life goals.
I don’t know about you, but I always find it helpful hearing about others’ stories on how they navigated seemingly impossible situations.
You can check out the interview here.
TLDR:
- I made the deliberate decision to leave leadership and transition back into an individual contributor role as an HR consultant.
- I negotiated working part-time during a tough time with our first dog.
- I requested and took a 60-day leave of absence/sabbatical to get a break from work.
- I negotiated working on more of an as-needed basis after my leave of absence, before I eventually decided to quit my successful career.
- I share advice on how to approach career shifts with family and your employer.
- We discuss why and when someone might consider career shifts.
Check out the interview and let me know what you think!
Have you made a career shift? If no, what’s holding you back? If you have made a shift, how has it benefited you and/or your family?
Thanks so much to The Fioneers for the opportunity to share my story!
